April, the flowers are abloom, the Blue Bonnets are sharing their beauty and the birds have been singing away! What a lovely season for all of us!!
A longstanding tradition in San Antonio is Fiesta! It began in 1891 as a way to remember and recognize the heroes of the Battle of San Jacinto and the Alamo. It is known as a Party with a Purpose as all profits go to local charities.
San Antonio has so many wonderful ways to celebrate Fiesta which begins on April 20th with so many activities happening…colorful, beautiful parades, a variety of foods to choose from as well as Las Villitas and the King William District to explore!
I myself have a hard time deciding where to begin! The original Fiesta Store on Broadway, is a great place to begin, then also the Fiesta store on Main will take your breath away! Fiesta Wreaths, clothing and cascarones to share with friends make it a beautiful and fun experience for all.
Newcomers of San Antonio celebrates Spring with our annual Fashion Show! This year our luncheon will be held at Maggiano’s Little Italy in the Rim. Fashions will be courtesy of Cavender’s Boot Barn in Alamo Ranch with our members as the models. Thank you to Lynne Govers, Sue Goldberg, and Kitty Knoedler for presenting a wonderful afternoon for us!
Also, our nominating committee, with Joy Shreve taking the lead, has our slate of Officers and appointed directors ready for us to vote on at our May Luncheon.
